More from SeatGeek
About the role
We have a large archive of historical ticket price data and deep institutional knowledge of ticket pricing. We like unit tests and we like calculus and we like economics. We love building simple solutions that do the job and we love getting things right. To you, building data products and shipping them is second nature. You can eloquently describe the purpose and internals of data products you have designed or built. Youre not afraid of a challenge. We were made for each other.
What You'll Be Doing
You will own ticket pricing at SeatGeek. Event tickets are liquid assets with interesting financial properties and an evolving role in the live entertainment space. Volatility, interest rates, and liquidity add complexity to the problem of pricing tickets appropriately. On any given day, you might be working on any of the following:
- leading quantitative research on pricing strategies, digging into years of supply and demand data on ticket prices and transactions
- providing technical leadership in deployment of pricing algorithms to production
- analyzing supply and demand data to identify opportunities for better pricing
- understanding price elasticity of demand and sell through rate
- establishing a measurement framework for pricing strategies, picking metrics to optimize and making it happen
- running tests to experiment with different algorithms
- developing internal tooling to monitor and optimize pricing products
What We're Looking For
We expect the person who fills this role to step in and leverage their experience to drive results. Skills and past experience that will help you be successful include:
- 7-10 years experience in quantitative roles, including at least 3 years in a pricing position (direct P&L responsibility is a strong plus)
- proficiency with at least one general purpose programming language and experience working on software that has gone into production
- a strong track record of developing successful data products (especially in financial services or e-commerce)
- ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing objectives
- prior management experience
