About the role

There are many ad tech companies out there talking about "big data" and "machine learning". But at Beeswax we're building something really different. Our Bidder-as-a-Service platform is best described as "AWS for Ad Tech" -- a scalable cloud platform for our customers to build out their own unique strategies for buying ads, using and analyzing data, and developing proprietary optimization models.

We’re seeking a senior data scientist in New York City to lead our machine learning efforts to help our innovative customers to push the envelope.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on a range of optimization problems in a production environment, such as click-through rate prediction, click-fraud detection, payment fraud, search ranking, text/sentiment classification, viewability prediction, or spam detection. The position will involve taking these skills and applying them to some of the most exciting tech at the massive scale of the real time advertising space (1 million+ auctions per second). It will also involve leading and growing a machine learning team.

Responsibilities
  • Work with customers and the product team to design optimization systems for both off-the-shelf use and customization through APIs
  • Develop highly scalable machine learning systems to automatically score and optimize real-time bidding advertising campaigns
  • Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore and SMP)
  • Ad tech experience a plus
Requirements
  • B.S. in a quantitative field, M.S. or Ph.D. a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Machine learning, large-scale data mining, or applied data science
  • Experience with Hadoop/Hbase/Spark/Pig or Mapreduce/Sawzall/Bigtable a plus
  • Working knowledge implementing machine learning algorithms in C/C++ or Java
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and shell scripts
  • Experience with server architectures, and distributed systems
